Golf Associations

Men's Golf Association (MGA)

The Onion Creek Club Men’s Golf Association has been a part of Onion Creek Club since it’s founding in 1974. The Association was established to foster a spirit of fellowship among its members and to encourage active participation in the game of golf and its related activities, keeping paramount the concept of the enjoyment of the game. A further statement of purpose is the financial support of Junior Golf and other programs endorsed by the Club. This support is to be evidenced by a reasonable contribution to be determined from time to time by the Board of Directors.

The MGA sponsors ten golf tournaments each calendar year. In addition to the MGA tournaments, the MGA has five (5) breakfast meetings each year and hosts the MGA Golf Ball Dinner Dance in January of each year.

Currently the MGA has over 225 members in good standing but we are always looking for new members. Any man who is a member or husband of a member in good standing of Onion Creek Club shall be eligible for membership in the Onion Creek Club Men’s Golf Association and shall be admitted upon application and satisfaction of the annual dues established by the MGA Board. The current yearly dues are $50.00.

If you would like additional information about the MGA, please go to our website: www.occmga.com. To join the MGA please go to the “Membership” section of the web-page and click on “Join the MGA”.

Women's Golf Association (WGA)

The Onion Creek Club's Women's Golf Association is one of the strongest, most vital and innovative women’s golf organizations in the area. At 128 members strong this year, the Onion Creek WGA enjoys a varied schedule of golf and social activities for women of all levels. The group welcomes new members to join in the Tuesday Play Day games for either 18 or 9 holes or the Saturday Play Day games of 18 holes twice a month.

In addition to regular play, the WGA puts on five major tournaments offering team and individual competition:  Spring Match Play in March, Member/Member (two day eclectic in May), Onion Creek Cup (team play in Solheim format in July), the WGA Championship in September, and Wild Onion Member-Guest in October.  For rules reviews, updating schedules, hearing guest speakers and socializing, the WGA has regular monthly meetings on the last Thursday of the month in the Club’s Dining Room.

There are opportunities for inter-club play, mentoring young golfers, and supporting WGA’s special charities, First Tee of Austin, and the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation.

The 2010 WGA President is Lynn League (512-291-1806, lleague@austin.rr.com ) and Membership Chairperson is Mary Lou Bledsoe(512-282-4776, mlbledsoe@austin.rr.com).  Membership dues are $40 per year.
